RED graphics engine was optimised as a result of three-way technology agreement between Redway3d, Amd and Dell
Today, Redway3d demonstrated its new RED graphics engine, the result of several years of R&D. The technology’s screaming-fast ray tracing technology was fine tuned in collaboration with Amd (NYSE: Amd) and Dell Computer as part of a joint technology agreement.

Redway3d’s RED engine rendering technology processes hardware ray traced pictures around 35 times faster, on average, than other renderers for the same picture quality. Relying on this breakthrough innovation, Redway3d provides software for the 3-D industry going from 3-D viewers for computer graphics (CG) artists to complete software development kit (SDK) solutions for CG software editors and simulation R&D departments. |
The collaboration with Amd and Dell is both technical and business driven. Redway3d set up an Amd and Dell test lab, and the RED engine is now integrated into Amd’s ATI Quality Assurance driver workflow, ensuring that future ATI driver releases will run on the RED engine software. Also as part of the technology agreement, Amd provides onsite technical support to Redway3d to better optimise the low-level 3-D code |

“Thanks to our partnership with Amd and Dell, we have achieved our objective to provide a 3-D engine covering the whole rendering spectrum from 60 frames-per-second real-time 3-D to high-quality ray traced pictures” said Fabien Chauviré, sales manager at Redway3d. “By collaborating on current developments and sharing information on future features, Amd, Dell and Redway3d generates reliability and performance for their customers.” |
“Performance is key in the world of high-end graphics, and we’re always pushing the limits” said Bruno Stefanizzi, senior application engineer at ATI Technologies, which merged with Amd in October. “In entertainment and advertising, for example, the shift to high-definition television has raised the bar substantially. Supporting the latest innovations is therefore to everyone’s benefit, and Redway3d’s product set is an exciting leap forward in rendering power.” |
